Sabre Advanced Statuses

The Sabre Advanced Statuses app is designed to allow customers configure and assign user-defined statuses to Business Central documents and records.

Sabre Advanced Statuses is part of the Sabre Production Suite. It helps businesses running Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central create user-defined status flows for the documents and processes that move through their organization.

Create different status sequences for different order types, control which actions users can take at each stage, and give employees a clearer view of where work stands. From design and review through production and completion, your team can follow consistent workflows that match the way your business operates.

Features

Create Custom Status Flows

Define status codes and sequences that match your actual business processes. Go beyond Business Central’s standard Open and Released statuses with stages such as Design, Pre-Release, Production, Testing, and Complete.

Configure Multiple Order Types

Create different status flows for different customers, products, departments, or processes. For example, a new customer order can follow a different sequence than a standard repeat order.

Control Actions by Status

Prevent users from releasing, shipping, receiving, invoicing, posting, printing, emailing, or modifying a document until it reaches the appropriate status.

Integrate with Business Central Workflows

Use Sabre status codes with Business Central workflows or Microsoft Power Automate to initiate approvals, notifications, reviews, and other automated activities.

Add Custom Status Events

Developers can add custom events that run when a status changes. For example, changing a sales order to Plan Order could automatically create a related production order.

Support Multiple Document Types

Create status flows for Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Assembly Orders, Production Orders, Projects, and Project Tasks.

Sabre Advanced Statuses FAQ

Sabre Advanced Statuses is an extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central that lets businesses create user-defined statuses and workflow sequences for supported documents and records.

It gives users a clearer view of where work stands while helping businesses control which actions can be completed at each stage.

Standard Business Central documents typically use a limited number of statuses, such as Open and Released. These statuses may not provide enough detail for businesses with multiple reviews, approvals, production stages, or departmental handoffs.

Sabre Advanced Statuses lets you create more detailed status flows that reflect the way your organization actually works.

Setup involves:

  • Creating an order type
  • Defining the status sequence for that order type
  • Configuring the actions that should be restricted at each status
  • Assigning a default order type to supported documents
  • Configuring the appropriate user permissions

Once configured, the order type and status fields become available on supported Business Central documents.

Each supported document can be assigned an order type and status. The order type determines which status sequence the document will follow.

For example, a Standard Sales Order flow could move through Design, Pre-Release, Production, and Complete. Users can then update the status as the order progresses through the business.

Yes. The app allows you to define restrictions per status, which can permit or block actions depending on the current status.

For example:

  • Prevent posting, shipping, or invoicing until a required status is reached.
  • Enforce approval or review steps before progression.

Possible causes based on documented setup requirements:

  • The Order Type is not assigned to the transaction
  • User permissions are not configured for Sabre Statuses
  • The status sequence was not defined for the Order Type.

Verify setup steps and ensure all prerequisites are completed before testing.

Errors such as requiring a specific status (e.g., “Released”) typically occur when:

  • The workflow requires a specific status before an action is allowed
  • The document is currently in a prohibited status

Resolution:

  • Update the document status according to the defined workflow
  • Review status restrictions configured in the setup

Common issues include:

  • Missing Order Type configuration
  • Not defining a status sequence
  • Forgetting to assign the Order Type to documents
  • Missing or incorrect user permissions

These typically result in missing statuses or workflow enforcement not functioning.

Typical use cases include:

  • Tracking detailed production stages to identify delays
  • Providing accurate order updates to customers
  • Standardizing workflows across departments
